Blue Aragonite

Aragonite is one of the hard varieties of calcite. One of the main chemical properties of this mineral is that its crystal lattice is quite unstable. Over time, it begins to metamorphose and the stone turns into ordinary calcite. due to its instability, after several tens of millions of years, aragonite turns into calcite, having increased in volume, the stone is considered rare. To date, the main aragonite deposits are considered to be the autonomous regions of Spain, such as Aragon, Valencia and Navarre. Aragonites from Sicily and Moroccan oolites are somewhat inferior to those from Spain. The pisolite deposit is believed to be a thermal spring located in Karlovy Vary and collection minerals can be found on the territory of Russia (Urals). Aragonite is mined in Kyrgyzstan, Taimyr and Turkmenistan.
